In March 2000, the site was opened with
much new information. My husband, Robert
Weeks designed the site. His inspiration came from many sources, in particular, Kellogg's Mohan Sawhney (Mohansawhney.com)
and Yale's Patrick Lynch (patricklynch.net). I moved most of the information located on my
previous
web page at Kellogg (http://www.kellogg.northwestern.edu/faculty/thompson/)
to my own domain name to make the site easier to maintain and to make it
easier to contact me (i.e., shorter and easier to remember URL). I
strongly believe that websites such as this should be easily
accessible to anyone anywhere in the world and so most of the
information on my site is currently available to anyone who wants or needs
it. My expectation is that information from the site will be
properly referenced.
Here's a brief list of things that are new:
1. The "Home" page now
contains a lot more information about what I am currently writing
and thinking about. The homepage was designed to be as informative
and as up-to-date as possible. To this end, I have three new
special feature sections, inspired by my students, colleagues, and
friends in industry:
 |
| Recent research articles: contains a list of articles
written by scholars that are influencing my thinking |
 |
| Teaching tips: I get numerous requests for teaching
materials and by placing these tips on the home page, they can
be accessible to everyone who wants and needs it. |
 |
| Women & Careers: I find myself getting lots of
questions about how to manage family and career. Now that I
have 3 children (all under 5!), I've developed more than a
passing interest in articles that I find empowering and
informative. I share my list here. |
2. Partnerships: With the recent
grant that Dedre Gentner, Jeff Loewenstein and I received from
Citigroup, I've become more interested in pursuing
academia-industry partnerships. I think there is a lot of real
win-win potential for academics and companies. This page describes
how I see this working, how to get started, and the benefits
involved.
3. The "Search Site" button
allows anyone to search the site using key words or phrases. This
is an easy way to search for abstracts of papers I've authored or
co-authored.. |
